Abstract The Appalachian photographs collection contain print photographs and negatives of the Appalachian region, mostly Northwestern North Carolina, but also some parts of Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. It contains photographs, slides, and negatives. Images include Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, and Watauga Counties, Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, and unidentified images of towns, people, and museum exhibits.

Abstract This collection is four poems by Appalachian poets, Muriel Miller Dressler, Louise Marsh Gabriel, Walter Griffin, and Jesse Stuart. All four are accompanied by drawings, printed on colored papers, with Dressler's being autographed.

Abstract The Appalachian Regional Brochure Collection is a collection of brochures of attractions located throughout the Appalachian Regional Commission-defined counties and the Appalachian Trail states. The collection covers historical sites and tourist attractions, providing insight into the promotion of tourism in the Appalachian region in addition to describing the sites themselves. Abstract The Appalachian Regional Ephemera Collection contains flyers, posters, postcards, brochures, travel guides, booklets, programs, and other ephemera from Appalachian towns or with Appalachian themes. There are real estate booklets with northwestern North Carolina houses for sale, as well as brochures of businesses, museums, and tourist attractions of Appalachia.
Abstract The Appalachian State University Library Scrapbook is based on a scrapbook by Belk Library staff for the 1970 John Cotton Dana Publicity Awards Contest. The scrapbook contains 35 pages filled with photographs and laminated newspaper articles about Belk Library. Also included are the program to former head librarian Richard Barker's memorial service, John Cotton Dana Publicity Awards Contest materials, and a 1970 library handbook.
Abstract The Appalachian State University Oral History Projects, Audio Materials and Papers Collection is a mixture of audiocassettes from several oral history projects, conferences, and events, dating in the 1970s-1980s, some of which have been positively identified as to which project the interview is related while others are not. A few transcriptions, CD copies, and duplicates are also part of this collection.

Abstract This collection includes one newspaper Cherokee Advocate written in both Cherokee and English language, two copies of Cherokee Phoenix, Vol. 1 No. 12, two photocopies of articles 1832 and 1833 from Niles' Register, and a guide of an audiocassette (not in this collection) "Sound of Cherokee" sounding out the Cherokee alphabet.

Abstract Mary Huff was a librarian at Appalachian State University from 1942-1982. During that time she developed romantic feelings towards fellow librarian William Leonard Eury. This collection consists of one binder of Miss Huff's poetry primarily written in 1947, of which she gave to Eury.
Abstract The Miscellaneous Oral History Transcripts consists of 41 transcriptions oral interviews of 49 Watauga County, North Carolina residents. Interviews were conducted in 1973 and 1997. Interviewees discuss folkways such as food and clothings, church participation, education, personal history, holiday traditions, wedding customs, local history, race relations, moonshining, and the Great Depression. Abstract This collection contains annual report files created by both academic and administrative departments and offices within Appalachian State University between 1961-2010. This collection was created from multiple accessions and predominantly consists of annual reports but also includes additional material related to their creation. Abstract The Univesity Archives was founded in 1981 to maintain records of the University that have permanent historical value. This collection consists of CDs containing the master TIFF files from the Appalachiain State University Historical Photographs Digitization Project as well as information on the Appalachian Consortium and personnel files from the University Archives.

Abstract The W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection Genealogy Collection is a collection of various unrelated family genealogies donated to the library. Many families originate from, but are not limited to, northwestern North Carolina. The files are housed alphabetically by family surname.
