Abstract
The collection contains photographs of a shawl reportedly worn by Catherine Marlowe at a ball given for George Washington's officers at Yorktown. The shawl descended through the Wiles family who were the grandchildren of Catherine Marlowe.

Abstract
Robert Earl Snead started at Appalachian State University as a student, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1955, and a Master's in 1957. He later returned to the University and became director of Alumni Affairs from 1966-1971. In 1971, he became Vice-Chancellor for Development and in 1989, he was made executive assistant to the Chancellor, retiring in 1997.
