Historical Note
The Catherine J. Smith Gallery is located in Farthing Auditorium, on the campus of Appalachian State University. Through innovative exhibitions and stimulating educational programs, the Catherine J. Smith Gallery provides opportunities for direct engagement with contemporary works of art and design for Appalachian State University students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. The Gallery presents original and traveling exhibitions, features works by faculty and students, and enriches its programmatic offerings through collaborative projects. The Gallery actively involves students in its exhibitions and programming by serving as a site for honing curatorial, presentation and installation abilities.

Abstract
The Catherine J. Smith Gallery is located in Farthing Auditorium, on the campus of Appalachian State University. It hosts both original and traveling art exhibitions. This collection consists mainly of correspondence regarding the organization of exhibitions.
