Anne Dougherty Rufty Letters, 1979. Folder contains 2 letters, 1 (4/4/1979) from Anne D. Rufty to Dr. Herbert Wey, regarding her membership nomination to the Board of Vistiors, and 1 (4/10/1979)from Dr. Wey to Annie D. Rufty acknowledging her letter and thanking her for her families contributions to ASU. The folder also contains a student enrollment card from Appalachian Training School from 1905, which lists the students name, age, hometown, and courses enrolled in.

Biographical / Historical

Annie Dougherty Rufty (1903-2001), one of four children of D. D. Dougherty and Lillie Shull Dougherty, was born May 17, 1903. She graduated from Appalachian in 1921 and received her B. S. from Carson-Newman College. She did graduate work at Columbia University and Peabody College and went on to teach teach home economics at the high school level. She and her husband Roy Rufty operated the Hillside Dairy from 1945 to 1957. She was involved in a variety of community affairs and clubs. She passed away on October 17, 2001.

Abstract

Annie Dougherty Rufty (1903-2001) was one of four children of D.D. Dougherty and Lillie Shull Dougherty. She graduated from Appalachian in 1921 and went on to teach home economics at the high school level. She was married to Roy S. Rufty. This collection contains correspondence and a 1905 summer term card.

This collection was accessioned in February 2011 (UA.2011.037), but its original donor is unknown. The materials may have been donated by Annie Dougherty Rufty with the B.B. Dougherty Papers in 1991.
