Knoxville College Graduating Class photograph
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of one composite photograph (mounted) of the Knoxville College graduating class, circa 1925. The students are are identified by first initials and last name. The women are wearing a mortar board with tassle. Their class motto was "He conquers who conquers himself." The photographs were taken by Boyd Browder, an African American photographer in Knoxville.

Historical Note
From the Knoxville College website:
"Knoxville College was founded in 1875 as part of the missionary effort of the United Presbyterian Church of North America to promote religious, moral, and educational leadership among the freed men and women. Its mission today is a direct outgrowth of the purpose of its founding."
It started as a normal school and was designated as a college in 1877.
