Biographical / Historical

Children's Home Hospital was the only hospital that allowed African American physicians to practice medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, through almost all of the first half of the twentieth century. The hospital was founded in circa 1901 by Arthur McKinnon Brown (1867–1939).
