These materials contain records related to the Office of Public Affairs. They consist of faculty and staff biographical files, photographs and slides, press releases, audio-visual materials, correspondence, annual reports, and financial information. Other subjects included in these records include: board of trustees, Appalachian Consortium, Appalachian Summer, Cannon Music Camp, Overseas Study Program, Phi Kappa Phi Society, Upward Bound, and the College of Business.

Historical Note

University Communications, in the University Advancement Division, seeks to share the unique essence and energy of Appalachian and its people through strategic, creative and dynamic communications that promote the University and its many constituents. This office continues the work of the News Bureau and Public Affairs, both of which were under the Office of Development until 2006, when University Communications was created.Though the office has undergone restructuring and name changes, this collection contains records of the News Bureau component of the Office of Public Affairs and currently University Communications.

Abstract

These materials contain records related to the Office of Public Affairs, formerly known as the News Bureau. They consist of faculty and staff biographical files, photographs and slides, press releases, audiovisual materials, correspondence, annual reports, and financial information.

Arrangement

This collection is divided into six series: Faculty and Staff Biographical Files, News Bureau Press Releases, Correspondence, Subject Files, Photographs, Negatives, and Slides, and Audio-Visual Materials. Series V: Photographs, Negatives, and Slides, is divided into four subseries and Series VI: Audio-Visual Materials is divided into seven subsries.
