Scope and Contents

The Office of Design and Construction Records contain documents related to daily operation of the office, files pertaining to projects carried out by the office, and a variety of administrative documents, dating 1988-2002. Some of the documents include correspondence, floor plans/blue prints, submittal packets, product specification sheets, change orders, requests for payment, brochures, catalogs, shop drawings, field reports, photographs, project descriptions, contracts, reports (annual, daily, and project) and budget/finance documents. There is information related to the following projects: Kidd Brewer Stadium repairs, D.D. Dougherty renovation, Steam Plant/Boiler Plant, Plemmons Student Union, Appalachian Heights, Newland Hall, John E. Thomas Academic Support Buildings, the Chancellor's Residence, Science/Math Complex, Legends, as well as other Capital Improvement projects and various smaller repair and renovation projects.

This collection is open for use in the Dougherty Reading Room. Blueprints have been removed and added to UA.5133: Blueprints and Architectural Drawings Collection.

Historical Note

The Office of Design and Construction was created in 1996 as a separate operating unit within Business Affairs, carrying out some of the operations that used to be undertaken by the Physical Plant. The office directs participation in the development and maintenance of the comprehensive university long range facility plan and supporting documents, administers the capital improvement process and provides optimal capital project information, coordination and review opportunities for all segments of the university community.

Abstract

The Office of Design and Construction was created in 1996 as a separate operating unit within Business Affairs, carrying out some of the operations that used to be undertaken by the Physical Plant. These records contain documents related to daily operation of the office, files pertaining to projects carried out by the office, and a variety of administrative documents, dating 1988-2002, with bulk dates of 1993-1998.

Arrangement

The collection is divided into 3 series which include General Administration, Campus Repair & Renovation Projects, and Large Projects. In general, the collection is arranged alphabetically.

This collection consists of 3 accessions: UA.2006.231, UA.2008.012, and UA.2009.047.
