Betty McFarland Papers,
Collection
Identifier: AC-511
Scope and Contents
Ms. McFarland's collection reveals some historic events and people of the early days of Boone, Watauga County, North Carolina. The copied clippings and the newspaper about the Centennial have many historic articles and photographs of some of the families who settled Boone, as well as some infamous facts about its people. Photos of Boone after a flood (possibly the 1916 flood) are evidence of the destruction of Boone, and more recent photos show how its residents recovered and rebuilt Boone. Several photos of old houses are identified on the backs and additional information has been included if available.
