Scope and Contents
The College of Fine and Applied Arts Records contain mostly administrative and committee/council files dating 1968-1999. The administrative files contain memoranda, evaluations, self-studies, faculty reviews, course files and other faculty information. The committee/council files contain meeting minutes, correspondence , policies and procedures, newsletters, proposals and membership lists. In addition to these files there are also more specific files pertaining to the Dean’s Office, self-studies, and daily operations of the college.

Historical Note
The College of Fine and Applied Arts was established in 1968 as Appalachian State Teachers College was restructuring in to Appalachian State University. The college currently includes the Departments of Art, Communication, Military Science and Leadership, Technology and Theatre and Dance. However, since 1968, the college has housed many other departments that have since been moved and/or restructured including Music (now the Broyhill School of Music) as well as Business (now the Walker College of Business). The college offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and is headed by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who reports to the provost.
