Historical Note
The Department of Communication is housed within the College of Fine and Applied Arts and was established in 1977 as the Department of Communication Arts, offering coursework leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. The department currently offers five concentration areas for undergraduates: Advertising, Communication Studies, Electronic Media/Broadcasting, Journalism and Public Relations. The department and its students produce the television show Appalachian Perspective, operate FM 90.5 WASU, and also operate the Kellar Radio Talent Institute.
