Scope and Contents
The Office of Academic Affairs Records contain a variety of administrative, planning, financial, committee/council, subject, calendar, report and correspondence files, dating 1962-2009, though most of the files date to the 1980s and 1990s. Many records pertain to the Provost and Associate Vice Chancellors, who oversee divisions within Academic Affairs. The largest single accession is 93 manuscript boxes and is titled “Vice Chancellor’s Academic and Administrative Subject File.” Because of the broad nature of Academic Affairs and the volume of the collection, subjects vary widely.

Historical Note
The Office of Academic Affairs is committed to the principle that providing students with ready access to skilled and dedicated faculty remains the surest formula for producing graduates of exceptional quality. Academic Affairs oversees offices and functions relating to the academic operations of ASU and the head of the office is the Provost, who reports directly to the Chancellor. All of the colleges and schools report to the Provost, and, the following also are within Academic Affairs: Office of Equity, Diversity and Compliance;Enrollment Management, Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, and College Awareness Program; International Education and Development; Information Technology Services; Institute for Health and Human Services; Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning; Belk Library and Information Commons; Hubbard Center for Faculty Development; Western NC Network for Access and Success.
