Historical Note
The trestle over Gillies Creek in Henrico County, Virginia was apparently built about 1861. A Report of Engineer and Superintendent of October 1, 1861, given to the General Assembly of Virginia, on the condition and completion of the railway road to West Point, states "The Gillies' Creek trestle has been nearly filled in, and the work is suspended for the want of cars."
