Scope and Contents
RB.8012 Music Manuscripts and Images Collection is an assortment of music-related items purchased with the Max Smith Endowment Fund. Included are autographed correspondence, black and white photographs, some autographed, programs, and postcards from individuals such as John Cage, Ethel Merman, Heinrich Scheidemann, Nadia Boulanger, Wilhelm Popp, and others. A variety of manuscript scores are included in this collection. All articles are in good condition. A few items are in foreign languages (with English translations), and the remainder items are in English.

Beach (1867-1944); American composer John Cage (1912-1992); Venezuelan pianist Teresa Carreno (1853-1917); French Composer Cecile Chaminade (1857-1944); French composer, Marguerite Debrie (1879-after 1917); American composer Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000); Soviet-Armenian composer Aram Khatchaturian (1903-1978); 'The Swedish Nightingale' Jenny Lind (1820-1887); singer Ethel Merman (1908-1984); composer Pauline Oliveros (born 1932); Mexican composer Manuel Ponce (1882-1948); Italian tragedienne Adelaide Ristori (1822-1906); American composer Augusta Read Thomas (b. 1964); Norwegian composer Cecilie Ore (b. 1954); Peruvian composer Rosa Mercedes Ayarza de Morales (1881-1969); Czech composer, violinist and composer Vojtěch Hřímalý (1842-1908); Brazilian composer, conductor, cellist, and classical guitarist Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959).

Acquisitions Information
Some of these items were purchased from J and J Lubrano Music Antiquarians LLC from New York. Accession numbers include: RB.2013.002, RB.2013.003, RB.2013.004, and RB.2013.005. Accession number RB.2022.022 added December 2022.
