Zachariah J. Whicker was born in Washington County, Virginia in 1828 and was a soldier in the War with Mexico, 1847-1848 and in the Civil War, 1861-1865 where he fought for the Union. He was married to Martha Hurst in 1849 in Clairborne, Tennessee, and had five children. The booklet tells more detailed history of Whicker and his family.
