Scope and Contents

This collection conists of two copies of Matt Coyne's Interview with Donald Secrest and Rod T. Smith in June 2010. Both interveiw subjects were Appalachian State University graduates. Topics discussed are Appalachian State, poetry, starting "The Cold Mountain Review," and well known writers who came to campus. Some of the people discussed are John Barth, Loyd Hilton, Tom McGowan, Charles Frazier, and Robert Penn Warren.

Biographical Note

The interviewer and transcriber of this interviews is Matt Coyne. He is a member of the Class of 2011 of University of Notre Dame. Both interveiw subjects were Appalachian State University graduates.

Rod T. Smith received his B.A. from UNC-Charlotte in 1969 and his M.A. from Appalachian State University in 1975.

Donald Seacrest received his B.A. in 1972 and M.A. in 1975 from Appalachian State, a M.F.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1978, and a Ph.D. from Univeristy of Iowa in 1992.

This collection includes CD copies and print transcription of an interview by Matt Coyne, University of Notre Dame graduate, of Donald Seacrest and Rod T. Smith, both graduates of Appalachian State University, at the Barnes and Noble Store in Roanoke, Virginia in 2010.
