Cove Creek, North Carolina Garage Oral History Project
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of oral history interviews done by Dr. Lynne Getz's 1997 fall semester Introduction to Public History Class. The main subject of the interviews was the Cove Creek Garage (more commonly known as Brown's Garage). The interviews were done as part of the Cove Creek Garage Project. Those interviewed were Alfred Adams, Paul Brown, Council Main, and Bobby McConnell. The collection consists of four oral history interviews, with transcripts, on two microcassettes and two cassette tapes. These audiovisual materials were digitized onto User CDs and Archival CDs. A short history of Cove Creek and the garage, as well as an introduction to the project and a black and white photograph of the Cove Creek area is included with the collection.

Historical Note
By reading the reports and interviews of various owners and operators of the Cove Creek Garage, one will find an enormous amount of information about the garage, the community, the history of the area, as well as side notes from "colorful" characters the students met. In September 1997, the Brown famiy, the current owners of the garage, presented the deed to the property to the Cove Creek Historical Society who plans to make the garage into a museum.

Abstract
The Cove Creek, North Carolina Garage Oral History Project is the result of a class project in one of Dr. Lynne Getz's history classes, Fall 1997, involving the history of the Cove Creek, North Carolina Garage in Watauga County.
Arrangement
The folders of the various interviews on paper are in alphabetical order by title of reports. The audiovisual versions of the interviews are housed in a CD box 2.

The collection was a donation of Dr. Lynne Getz, History professor at Appalachian State University and accessioned as AC.2011.012.
Processing Information
Processed by Anita Elliott, January 2014. This collection was processed as part of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. The grant funded extensive processing of the backlog within the W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection between 2012 and 2014.
