Abstract
The Dauphin Disco Dougherty Papers is a small collection of personal items belonging to D.D. and his family, including two poetry books from 1923, his wife Lillie's autograph book from 1889-1897, and a black and white photo of his parents, Daniel Baker Dougherty and Elen Caroline Bartlett Dougherty.

Abstract
The Doris Stam collection consists of artifacts, correspondence, oral histories, papers, and photographs the Bartlett, Brown, Dougherty, Perry, Shull, and Taylor families. The collection also contains material from the early days of Appalachian State University and history of Boone, North Carolina. Doris Stam gathered the material of this collection while writing her book "Mountain Educators: The Dougherty Family and the First Fifty Years of Appalachian."

Abstract
The Elizabeth Brown Scoggins collection contains papers, photographs, documents, and artifacts spanning the history of Appalachian State and Watauga County from the 19th Century to the early 21st. Much of the collection is devoted to the Dougherty, Brown, and Bartlett families with an emphasis on concerning B.B. and D.D. Dougherty, founders of what would become Appalachian State University.
