Materials in the Cratis D. Williams Papers cover the professional and private life of scholar and professor Cratis Williams, his studies in Appalachian literature, folklore and ballads, and the Appalachian Consoritum. The collection consists of materials related to Williams' work at Appalachian State University, academic and genealogical research, correspondence, photographs, audio recordings of folksongs and lectures, one VHS tape, two reels of microfilm, slides, and family memorabilia.

The Elizabeth Brown Scoggins collection contains papers, photographs, documents, and artifacts spanning the history of Appalachian State and Watauga County from the 19th Century to the early 21st. Much of the collection is devoted to the Dougherty, Brown, and Bartlett families with an emphasis on concerning B.B. and D.D. Dougherty, founders of what would become Appalachian State University.

John A. Pritchett Jr. came to ASU in 1955. as the audio-visual director. He retired after 37 years of service and in 1991 he was made Professor Emeritus of Curriculum and Instruction. The John A. Pritchett Photograph Collection contains negatives taken between 1952-1960. Subjects include sports, dances, ASTC campus and students, student activities, and faculty. The photographer is unknown.

Appalachian State University received its current name on July 1, 1967, transforming over the years from a small teachers’ college to a multi-disciplinary university. The University Deeds collection contains the original deeds to properties belonging to the university as well as supporting documentation, copies and abstracts of the deeds, notes and correspondence, title analysis, maps and drawings of property, certifications, and contracts.
