Abstract
The Appalachian Consortium, in operation from 1970-2004, was a nonprofit, educational organization formed by a partnership of academic institutions dedicated to preserving the history and enhancing the future of the Southern Appalachian region. This collection contains files detailing the initial organization and continuing leadership of the Consortium, its finances and correspondence, as well as its major projects, grants, publications, and conferences.

Abstract
The Elizabeth Brown Scoggins collection contains papers, photographs, documents, and artifacts spanning the history of Appalachian State and Watauga County from the 19th Century to the early 21st. Much of the collection is devoted to the Dougherty, Brown, and Bartlett families with an emphasis on concerning B.B. and D.D. Dougherty, founders of what would become Appalachian State University.

This collection contains annual report files created by both academic and administrative departments and offices within Appalachian State University between 1961-2010. This collection was created from multiple accessions and predominantly consists of annual reports but also includes additional material related to their creation. While many departments have a report for every year, some may not have a report for each year.

Abstract
The Univesity Archives was founded in 1981 to maintain records of the University that have permanent historical value. This collection consists of CDs containing the master TIFF files from the Appalachiain State University Historical Photographs Digitization Project as well as information on the Appalachian Consortium and personnel files from the University Archives.

University Deeds Collection

Abstract
Appalachian State University received its current name on July 1, 1967, transforming over the years from a small teachers’ college to a multi-disciplinary university. The University Deeds collection contains the original deeds to properties belonging to the university as well as supporting documentation, copies and abstracts of the deeds, notes and correspondence, title analysis, maps and drawings of property, certifications, and contracts.
