Abstract
The Appalachian Region Photographs collection contains print photographs and negatives of the Appalachian region, mostly Northwestern North Carolina, but also some parts of Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. It contains photographs, slides, and negatives. Images include Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, and Watauga Counties, and unidentified images of towns, people, and museum exhibits.

Rickey C. Kirkpatrick came to Appalachian State University in 1980 as an assistant professor of economics. Throughout his career, he became an associate professor of economics, director of the bureau of economic and business research, and eventually assistant dean for graduate studies and external programs of the John A.
