Abstract The Andrew Jackson Greene Collection consists of 163 diaries written by Greene and describing Watauga County's education system, cultural and religious life, and agriculture from 1906 to 1942.
Abstract The Appalachian Consortium, in operation from 1970-2004, was a nonprofit, educational organization formed by a partnership of academic institutions dedicated to preserving the history and enhancing the future of the Southern Appalachian region. This collection contains files detailing the initial organization and continuing leadership of the Consortium, its finances and correspondence, as well as its major projects, grants, publications, and conferences.

Abstract Materials in the Cratis D. Williams Papers cover the professional and private life of scholar and professor Cratis Williams, his studies in Appalachian literature, folklore and ballads, and the Appalachian Consoritum. The collection consists of materials related to Williams' work at Appalachian State University, academic and genealogical research, correspondence, photographs, audio recordings of folksongs and lectures, one VHS tape, two reels of microfilm, slides, and family memorabilia.

Abstract The Elizabeth Brown Scoggins collection contains papers, photographs, documents, and artifacts spanning the history of Appalachian State and Watauga County from the 19th Century to the early 21st. Much of the collection is devoted to the Dougherty, Brown, and Bartlett families with an emphasis on concerning B.B. and D.D. Dougherty, founders of what would become Appalachian State University.

Abstract The Horton Family Papers are a collection of documents accumulated by the Horton family of Watauga County, North Carolina. Jonathan Horton and James Crittenden Horton generated most documents.

Abstract J. Walter Jones, M.D. Records contains the medical ledger books of Dr. Walter Jones of Boone, North Carolina, dating from 1903 to 1924. Each of the four ledgers contain an alphabetical index. Entries are organized by name in order of first visitation and contain date of service, charges, payment date and payment method. Entries also list type of service; i.e., visit, office, medicine, gynecological, surgical.

Abstract William Howard Plemmons was the second President of Appalachian State Teachers College serving from 1955 until 1969. Materials in this collection include correspondence and subject files, newsclippings, photographs, and other printed materials relating to the administration of Appalachian State Teachers College (A.S.T.C.) during Plemmons’ presidency and his continued active involvement as President Emeritus.
