Doris Stam collection

Overview The Doris Stam Collection consists of artifacts, correspondence, oral histories, papers, and photographs the Bartlett, Brown, Dougherty, Perry, Shull, and Taylor families. The collection also contains material from the early days of Appalachian State University and history of Boone, North Carolina. Doris Stam gathered the material of this collection while writing her book Mountain Educators: The Dougherty Family and the First Fifty Years of Appalachian.

Abstract This collection includes an 1884 deed of land between D.P. Mast and D.B. Dougherty, dated November 6, 1883 and registered February 29, 1884. Also included are four architectural views of J.B. Hagaman's Store, Office and Clinic in Boone, North Carolina, dated June 30, 1950, as well as three architectural prints of J.B. Hagaman's house.
