This collection consists of the company prospectus provided by the Kentucky Coal Company in April 1890. It states that the company has "acquired coal lands and 'mineral rights'" in Kentucky (in Breathitt, Perry, Letcher, Leslie, Knott, and Pike Counties) and that the company plan will be to hold the lands for higher prices or leasing. It is accompanied by a handbill, printing extracts from the geological survey in Southeastern Kentucky, describing the richness of the coal fields.

Abstract Michael and Ruth Yarrow Coal Mining Interviews collection contains interviews capturing narratives of life in the eastern coalfields throughout the 20th Century, primarily in West Virginia but also in Kentucky and Virginia.
