This collection consists of an order by the Clerk of Court in Morganton (Burke County), NC, James R. Doose, to the sheriff, B. A. Berry, to seize enslaved persons from owners William F. McKeson, Henry O'Neil, Thomas G. Walton, and N. W. Woodfin to pay off debts they incurred to E. E. Greenlee. The order was issued on August 12, 1861. Berry acknowledged that the enslaved were seized on November 16, 1861.
