Abstract Mary Peacock Douglas (1903-1970) was a nationally known school librarian and author. She was an English teacher and librarian in Salisbury, North Carolina becoming the first state school library advisor for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction from 1930-1947. She also served as the supervisor of school libraries for the Raleigh Public School system.
