Abstract The Department of Government and Justice Studies, formerly called the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice, is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University. Moore, Jr. Papers contain the professional working papers of Dr. Richter Moore, Jr. including drafts and finished manuscripts, course materials, and correspondence related to the department chair and university committee work.

Abstract In 1991, Daniel German and Marvin Hoffman, both professors in the Department of Political Science, undertook a statewide study of public opinion of the environment and the effectiveness of governmental actions to protect the environment. They wanted to determine the public's satisfaction with the environmental conditions of the time and what type of actions would be supported in order to improve the environment. This collection consists of the surveys completed for the study.
