Abstract
The Appalachian Land Ownership Survey was a study initiated by the Appalachian Land Ownership Task Force in Fall 1978 to examine land ownership patterns, particularly absentee and corporate ownership, and the resulting effects on regional development. The study participants concluded that a disproportionate amount of land owners were absentee and that corporate owners paid a disproportionately low amount of taxes.
